Buddhism is the world's forth largest religion. Buddhism founded in 6th century BC. It was founded in the Nort India. The founder was Gautam Buddha (an Indian prince). Main locations: China, Japan, Korea and Southeast Asia. Main sects. Theravada and Mahayana. Theravada is atheistic, Mayana is more polytheistic. The foundations of Buddhist tradition and practice are the 3 Jewles: the Buddha, the Dharma (the teachings), and the Sangha (the community). Buddhism has 4 Noble Truths. That is:
- All of life is marked by suffering
- Suffering is caused by desire and attachment
- Suffering can be eliminated
- Suffering is eliminated by following the Noble Eightfold Path
